Five 2016 Fashion Rules

2016 finally arrived, ladies and gentlemen of fashion. As you would expect with every New Year, it brought unique sentiments and rules with it. The world of fashion is very sensitive because it is one of the main ways through which we express ourselves. That said, it is utterly important that we know the dos and don’ts that 2016 brought us, lest we seem out place.

The following are the top 5 2016 fashion rules that we must observe to stay relevant and make it a great year.

  • Dress for your shape

This might sound like a century-old rule but it never goes away. Yes, just like it stipulates, dress for your body shape to get the best results. An example, if you are petite, vertical stripes will make you a big fashion laughing stock. Similarly, avoid oversized everything if you happen to be a plus size.

  • Remember your wrists

Many fashion professionals agree that the wrist has been one of the most ignored body parts in recent trends. We overdo the head, stress on the neck and perfect the rest of the body but leave the wrists bare. Be advised: the wrist will not be left out in 2016. Use whatever will work for you, be it jewelry or a variety of watches.

  • Show the socks

A recent discovery in this creative field shows that socks can be impressive and aesthetic if revealed. We hide, ditch and tone them down, not knowing that they can add to the overall outcome of an outfit. From now on, feel free to wear the lengthy ones, play with the colors and do not sneak them under your boots. Just be creative.

  • Do not match everything

Matching your attire and makeup from head to toe is obviously the easiest and most applied fashion rule. At some point in the new century, it was perceived as boring and outdated. This made many fashion-conscious people to dump it. However, this trend is reincarnating in 2016! Feel free to enjoy its rebirth.

  • Dress for yourself, not others

The feel-free-to-match trend opened the gate to freedom in the fashion industry. This year, dress in whatever you feel comfortable in and ignore what anyone will say or think about it. If the heels do not work for you, ditch them. If a green beard sails your boat, just make sure your green dye supply is always full. In short, this year’s fashion is centered on you.

We have an interesting fashion year ahead, don’t we?

This contradiction in itself is not what you would expect from a blog partly named “vogue”–but we think of ourselves as the new mainstream instead. Started years ago, this blog has rebranded itself countless times to what you see today. Let the blogging journey continue :)
